Batesville Mayor Mike Bettice honors local businessman, volunteer

Batesville, In. — Batesville Mayor Mike Bettice declared Monday, November 12 “Leon J. Pulskamp Day.” He was recognized by city officials for his selfless work to mow and maintain a park area off of State Road 46 on the east side of town.

Pulskamp maintained the unofficial park for about 40 years and never received compensation from the city or was ever asked to do the work, he did it because he cared about his community.  The city honored him on October 12, prior to his passing.

Pulskamp was also a successful businessman and served two tours of duty in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971 and was awarded the Bronze Star.
