Batesville Junior High Volleyball Defeats North Decatur

The 7th-grade volleyball team held off North Decatur 25-23, 25-19. Nya Moon led all servers with 12 points including 8 aces. Ella Peetz had 8 points with 2 aces. Zoe Mathews and Vera Flannery each added 2 service points. Adalyn Placke and Reese Richey each chipped in a point. Elsie Koehne had 2 kills. Adalyn Placke, Ella Peetz, and Zoey Mathews all earned a kill.

The 8th Grade Lady Bulldog Volleyball Team outlasted the North Decatur Chargers in 3 sets. Scores were 25-14; 20-25; and 15-13.

The team played very consistently in the 1st set and it was a great overall team win. The Lady Dogs had the upper hand in set 2 as well forcing a timeout leading 20-16. After a Bulldog missed serve, the Chargers rattled off 8 consecutive points despite a timeout and several substitutions being made to try to regain the momentum. Set 3 was going to be a battle to gain control and it did not disappoint. The Lady Dogs knotted the score at 13 all and Carly Blanton served the final 2 points to earn the win.

Maci Smith was the top server earning 10 points including 6 aces. Miki Gutzwiller scored 8 points with 1 ace while Sarah Hunter chipped in 6 points including an ace in the winning effort.

Lydia Niese was aggressive at the net with 6 kills while Maci Smith and Breauna Broshears added 2 apiece. Kenzi Lacey, Maliyah Morton, Amelia Vierling, and Carly Blanton each contributed 1 kill at the net. The teams will host Milan on Thursday at the Dog Pound.
