Batesville hosted the Ripley County XC meet tonight and it was finally a much more pleasant night to run a 5K race. The Bulldogs had 5 boys and all 7 girls make the All-County team by placing in the top ten of their race. Also on the girls’ side, Kaylynn Bedel was crowned the champion of the girls’ race and named County MVP. This is Kaylynn’s third year in a row winning the County Meet. Congratulations Kaylynn!
Despite the boys placing 5 in the top ten and scoring 36 points, it still wasn’t enough to beat Milan’s score of 22 points as they took the first 3 spots through the finish line. Ben Riehle was named the champion and County MVP. All County honors for Batesville went to: Isaac Trossman, leading the way for the dogs, placing 4th, followed by Cannon Clark in 6th, Jake Chapman in 7th, Deev Ranka in 9th, and Jaden Basler in 10th. Finishing out the top 7 for the Bulldogs were Ethan Rahschutle in 12th and Eli Loichinger was 14th.
On the girls’ side, Batesville took the top 6 spots with Kaylynn Bedel leading the way (21:14), followed closely by Lexiyne Harris (21;17). Taking 3rd place was Megan Allgeier (22:11), then Samantha Adams in 4th (22:27), Kaylie Raver, in 5th (22:33), and Bayleigh Demaree in 6th (22:49). Charlotte Trossman took the final spot for Batesville in 8th place (24:01). By the girls taking the first 6 spots, it gave them a perfect score of 15 and the County Championship trophy. South Ripley placed 2nd at 57 points.
The Dogs only get a day break as they will head to Sunman on Saturday morning for the East Central Invitational. The boys’ race begins at 9 a.m.
