The Batesville High School Cross Country team finished out their regular season tonight as they traveled to Greensburg to compete in their 11-team invitational. The girls started out the night and senior Ava Hanson crossed the finish line first 13 seconds ahead of the rest of the field in a time of 19:59. Senior Sophie Myers was next, taking runner-up at 20:12 with Lexiyne Harris right behind her in 3rd place at 20:16. The Bulldogs also had Charlotte Trossman and Megan Allgeier place in the top ten at 5th(20:44) and 6th (21:18) respectively. Finishing out the varsity 7 were Samantha Adams (22:22) and Isabel Raab (22:31) placing 13th and 15th. With these finishes from the Bulldogs, they scored a low 17 points beating 2nd place Greensburg by 38 points.
On the boy’s side, it was the opposite result as Greensburg scored a low score of 26 to win the meet, with Batesville coming in 2nd at 63 points and East Central was 3rd with 83. Batesville was led by sophomore Jake Chapman, placing 3rd overall at 16:57. Four more Bulldogs got themself in the top 20 and they were, Isaac Trossman, 11th (17:45), Cannon Clark, 16th (18:08), Eli Loichinger 19th (18:29) and Paxton Harris in. 20th (18:34). Finishing out the varsity 7 for Batesville was Deev Ranka in 29 (18:58) and Cash Myers, 37th (19:32).
On the JV side, the Bulldogs were led by Bayleigh Demaree, followed closely by Madison Rahschulte. Ella Moster and Shanna Smith also finished in the top 10. And with the boys, both Benjamin Adams and Ethan Rahschulte placed. Congratulations everyone!
So, now the Bulldogs have just over a week to prepare for Sectionals which will be held at Moores Hill Elementary school next Saturday at 9:30 pm.
