Batesville finished in third of three teams at the Columbus North Boys Tennis Invitational.
The Bulldogs faced Providence in their first round matchup and lost 4-1. The #2 doubles team of Alec Bunselmeier and Sam Johnson picked up the lone point for the Bulldogs. Jaden Smith suffered his first loss of the season. Cael Rahe at 1 singles and the 1 doubles team of Cole Pride and Jackson Tracy all won their first set but ultimately lost in three sets.
“It was a hard fought match at every position,” said Batesville coach Mitchell Taylor.
- 1 singles- Rahe lost 6-4, 3-6, 4-6
- 2 singles- Smith lost 1-6, 1-6
- 3 singles- Oesterling lost 2-6, 3-6
- 1 doubles- Pride/Tracy lost 7-5, 3-6, 4-6
- 2 doubles- Bunselmeier/Johnson won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4
In Batesville’s round two matchup, the Dogs battled against some stiff competition in No. 2 ranked Columbus North. Bunselmeier and Johnson lost their first doubles match of the season as BHS fell in all five matches.
“We lost 5-0 but the boys fought hard, played with a lot of pace, and a lot more loosely than normal,” stated Taylor.
