It only took 60 minutes for Batesville to end its match with Greensburg Tuesday. The Bulldogs held a 9-0 lead with still 20 minutes to play in the second half as the match ended on the IHSAA’s mercy rule.
BHS coach Kyle Hunteman reported Eli Pierson scored the first Bulldog goal within the first minute and later went on to complete a hat trick with 3 goals. His brother, Noah Pierson, also scored with an assist from Willy Sherwood. A deflected cross resulted in an own goal for Greensburg putting the score at 5-0 by halftime.
In the second half, Thomas Hartman scored first with an assist from Sebie Trainor. Hunteman noted the final three goals were scored by Willy Sherwood, Cody Sims, and Sebie Trainor. The match ended with 20 minutes on the clock since the Bulldogs had a nine goal lead.
