One-half mile racing is gaining popularity in the country and there are only about six places that can accommodate the sport. Airports are preferred locations, and they cannot all close for an entire weekend.
Events are planned at the airport July 14-15 & 25-26, August 11-12 & 25-26, September 8-9 & 22-23, October 6-7 & 20-21, November 3-4 & 17-18.
The racing features cars like Vipers, Corvettes, Porsches, Nissans and Lamborghinis. They all range from 500 to 2,000 horsepower. The cars are completely street legal in all cases. The cars range in value from $60,000 to $300,000.
The spectator capacity for the events will be about 200 people. No alcohol is allowed.
