Bardstown, Ky. — A collapse at a Bardstown bourbon storage facility happened Friday around 11 a.m. Nelson County EMA director Joe Prewitt says about half of the facility that holds up to 20,000 barrels caved-in but no injuries were reported.
Initial reports indicate there may have been as many as 9,000 barrels of “Kentucky Gold” lost.
Officials are scrambling to reinforce and stabilize the remaining structure as storms approach.
The cause is under investigation. Witnesses say a construction crew had been working on a wall nearby.
