Barbara Lynn Neal, 70, of Greensburg, Indiana, died on December 13, 2021, at home after a brief illness. She was born on August 19, 1951, to Herbert Colson and Erma (Bare) Colson. Both parents have preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of North Decatur High School in 1969 and attended Purdue University majoring in education. In 2004 she earned her Master of Theology. For the past 30 years along with her husband Charles, she lived a life of Christian faith, serving God as a missionary teacher to the nations around the world. They spent their last ten years focusing on the country of Peru, specifically the unreached villages on the Amazon River.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed.
Barbara Lynn Colson married Charles Allan Neal on September 19, 1971, at the Antioch United Church of Christ in Antioch, Indiana. Charles preceded Barbara in death on September 12, 2020.
She is survived by her brother Daryl (Rosalyn) Colson. She is also survived by two children, Laura (Jeff) Valentine of Fishers, Indiana, Angela Oberding of LaFollette, Tennessee, four grandchildren, Rhys Oberding, Lily (John) Hayden, Olivia and Ava Valentine, and two great-grandsons, Charles Bowling and Ezekiel Hayden.
Visitation will be held at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Rd. 46 E. P.O. Box 202 Batesville, IN 47006 from 2-4 p.m. on December 17, 2021, with the funeral service to begin at 4 p.m. John M. Hayden will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Family Church/WOW Missions, 11875 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, KY 41051, to continue the work in Peru.
