(Lawrenceburg, IN) – A man accused of attempted rape was arrested by Lawrenceburg Police last Friday.

Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens says 27-year-old Sergio Marroquin Crisostomo is charged with Attempted Rape with a Deadly Weapon (Level 1 felony), Criminal Confinement with a Deadly Weapon (Level 3 felony), Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 felony), and Strangulation (Level 6 felony).

“This is a frightening case of an alleged victim mowing the grass outside her garage in Lawrenceburg and a stranger, allegedly grabbing her, using a knife to cut off her pants as he is attempting to rape her,” Deddens said. “All of this occurred in daylight, in Lawrenceburg. He is facing the highest level of felony for his alleged actions.”

According to the probable cause affidavit, Lawrenceburg Police were dispatched to a residence on Friday, June 16 around 7:24 pm for a report of rape.

The alleged victim was mowing the grass outside her garage when Crisostomo approached and pulled her into the garage, as she screamed and pleaded for him to stop.

Crisostomo allegedly threatened her with a knife and cut her pants.

After a struggle, the victim was eventually let up and went to a neighbor’s house for help.

Lawrenceburg Police officers located one of Crisostomo’s family members and received his cell phone number, which was used to “ping” his location.

He was arrested without incident near Hollywood Casino and U.S. 50.

Formal charges were filed on Monday against Crisostomo, who made an initial appearance in Dearborn Circuit Court.

His bond was taken under advisement by Judge Aaron Negangard.
