Area pauses to remember 9/11

Southeastern Indiana — The area joined the nation Sunday in pausing to remember the lives lost in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The Sunman Rural Fire Department was joined by firefighters from several area departments and community members Sunday morning to walk 3.43 miles in remembrance of the 343 firefighters lost in the World Trade Center attack on 9/11.

The Overpass Patriots gathered on the Moscow Road bridge overpass along I-74 in Greensburg Sunday afternoon to wave American flags.

The group has done this on other significant patriotic days such as Memorial Day and on Independence Day (July 4).

Sunday marked the 21st anniversary of the attacks, which also claimed the life of a Milan native.

US Army Col. Canfield “Buddy” Boone – Milan High School Class of 1966 – died in the attack on the Pentagon.
