Area Farmers Eligible for Disaster Loans

(Indianapolis, IN) – Significant rains that hit our area last year have been declared a natural disaster for farmers.

The United States Department of Agriculture says Ripley, Decatur, and five other counties are eligible for emergency loans through the Farm Service Agency (FSA).

The assistance is aimed at helping producers recover from the natural disaster that happened between April 1 and December 31, 2025.

The loans can be used to replace essential items, such as equipment or livestock; reorganize farming operations, or to refinance certain debts.

FSA will review loan applications based on the losses, available security, and repayment ability.

Jennings County is the primary county designated for the relief.

Besides Ripley and Decatur, other contiguous counties that are also qualify are Bartholomew, Jackson, Jefferson, and Scott.

The deadline to apply is October 13.
