Anthony Cole “Tony” AmRhein, 34, of Tempe, Arizona died at his residence on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was born on September 5, 1991, in Columbus, Indiana and is the son of Wayne F. and Lynne A. (Stier) AmRhein.
He grew up in Greensburg, Indiana and attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 2010. Tony then joined the United States Air Force and served for 8 years as a Senior Airman Crew Chief. He then decided to follow in his father’s footsteps to become a commercial airline pilot. Tony’s latest position was as a flight instructor in Arizona.
Tony lived life big and adventurous! He saw a bit of the world and toured many places across the country. Tony loved family trips to Dale Hollow Lake where he would water ski, perform stunts on his knee board and wake board, jump off cliffs and hang out with family. Other ventures were downhill skiing trips taking on the black diamond trails and NFL Seahawk football games. He also enjoyed movies. Tony’s smile was infectious and he loved to dress sharp. He was always the life of the party and lit up the room with his presence.
He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Lynne AmRhein; his brother, Stephen (Kameron) AmRhein and their children Vivienne, James, Felicity and Penelope of Wildwood, Florida; his sister, Olivia (Mehmet) Demir and their boys, Jacob and Josiah of Travis Air Force Base in California; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Donna AmRhein of Westport; his maternal grandfather, James (Joanne) Stier of Greensburg; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Susan Stier and a cousin, Sophia Walsman.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father John Meyer and Deacon Brad Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military graveside rites. Prior to the Mass, the Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 a.m. followed by the visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at noon.
