Anna Mae Erhart

Anna Mae Erhart, age 87 of Batesville, Indiana, died Sunday, June 18, 2023 at her residence.  Born November 5, 1935 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Alma (Nee:  Humig) and Lambert Doll.  She married Victor J. Erhart on October 22, 1955 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris, Indiana and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1990.  Anna Mae was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony Church and its Ladies Sodality, the Red Hat Ladies, and the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.

Anna Mae was an active member at Saint Anthony. She baked apple and lemon meringue pies for the Labor Day festival along with over 50 years of service, made delicious popcorn for the CYO volleyball and basketball games, and volunteered for many years at the live nativity.

Anna Mae made some of the best desserts and treats which included an amazing peach cobbler and strawberry swirl. She enjoyed canning the produce from her garden and making delicious noodles. Her chili was enjoyed by all at family campouts. While making treats for everyone else, she also enjoyed others’ treats as well with some of her favorites being DQ Heath Blizzards and glazed pretzel donuts from Schmidt bakery.

Anna Mae enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams including the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and IU basketball. She was a member of the YMCA where she enjoyed water aerobics. She loved a variety of games such as cards, dominoes, bingo, and going to the casino. Lots of memories were created throughout the course of her playing these games. She was a fun mom to take to bingo and was competitive at these events. On one occasion we took Mom to the casino to spend the night. However, she fell asleep and we went to gamble. She could not believe we left her in the room by herself. She never stayed with us again.

Above all, she loved all her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law Ronald and Karen Erhart of Batesville, Kevin Erhart of Greensburg, Indiana, Kenneth and Becky Erhart of Sunman, Indiana, Brian and Joan Erhart of St. Leon, Indiana, Mark and Sheila Erhart of Batesville; daughters and sons in law Brenda and William Kraus of Dover, Indiana, Diane and Roger Batta of Sunman; Marilyn and Jeff Caudill of Sunman, Carla and Don Prickel of Batesville; sister Shirley Doll of Indianapolis, Indiana; 21 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren with 2 on the way.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Floyd and Alois Doll; sister Rosemary Dierckman and granddaughter Valerie E. Batta.
