Ambrose E. Nobbe

Ambrose Nobbe, 88, of Batesville Indiana died Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born March 21, 1934 in Decatur County Indiana. He was the son of William and Alvina (Dwenger) Nobbe. He married his lifelong sweetheart, Anna Mae Lamping August 17, 1955 at St. Ann’s church in Hamburg and enjoyed 67 years of a loving, happy marriage.

Ambrose was a hardworking man, and he committed himself to doing good work in every area of his life. He spent time overseas serving our country in the army and was a dedicated employee of Batesville Casket Company for over 40 years. He was a jack of all trades and always offered his handyman skills to anyone in need. He was a very religious man, prayed the rosary daily and was heavily involved with the Knights of St. John and St. Louis Church, especially with the Festival Committee.

Ambrose was a people person. He made connections everywhere he went, loved to crack jokes and make others laugh and smile. In retirement, he was a regular at NAPA and the Eagles. He also enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife, family, and friends, with one of his favorite trips being a cruise to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Even in his final days, he sought to live every moment to its fullest. He never turned down a dessert and always looked forward to dancing and enjoying a Bud Light (or two) during Happy Hour at St. Andrews. Above all else, Ambrose cared for his family and his wife dearly. He took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to support them in all their sports and activities.

Ambrose is survived by his 4 children, Diane (Rick) Allgeier of Batesville, Karen (Gary) Munchel of Oldenburg, Terry (Debbie) Nobbe of Batesville and Lisa (Tony) Gausman of Batesville, brother Jim Nobbe of Enochsburg, sisters Eileen Moorman of Millhousen and Lou Effinger of Batesville, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
