Alexandra Peggy “Alex” (Eglseder) Hake

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexandra “Alex” (Eglseder) Hake, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend. Alex passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2024, at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, warmth, and a fair dose of sass and charisma. Born on July 26, 1962, Alex lived a life led by her heart, pursuing passions, embracing adventures, and exuding a joyful spirit that touched everyone around her.

Alex will be lovingly remembered by her children, Franklin Steele, Allison (Steele) Owen, Robyn Page, and Major Hake; her husband, Jeffrey Hake; and her siblings, the late Carl Eglseder, Amanda Kincaid, Daniel Eglseder, Jeanne (Don) Schroeder, the late Phillip Eglseder, Joseph (Kerry Broderick) Eglseder, James (Nicole) Eglseder, and Janice Eglseder. She is also reunited in rest with her mother, Dolores Eglseder, and we find peace knowing they are together once again.

Alex often said she came from a long line of strong women—and she truly embodied that strength, passing it on to all who knew her. She embraced spontaneity and welcomed change as a chance for new adventures, often saying, “Life’s a dance.” Alex’s creative spark was ever-present, whether she was working as a talented hairdresser in her early years or redecorating every room she could get her hands on in her later years. When multiple sclerosis began to affect her body, she never allowed it to dim her spirit. Instead, she embraced the new challenges, finding joy in a new-to-her creative outlet of crocheting. True to her philosophy of “life’s a dance,” she found a new rhythm with resilience, never allowing bitterness to take root. She cherished spending time with her family, filling those moments with laughter and creating lasting memories.

Though she was taken from us too soon, we choose to remember Alex for her radiant smile, her boundless creativity, and her unwavering love. Her legacy encourages us all to live passionately, embrace life’s unexpected changes with grace, and love unconditionally.

In accordance with Alex’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, but a private gathering will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Alex’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A memorial fund has been established at the following link: https://donate.nationalmssociety.org/campaign/Alexandra-Hake-Memorial-Fund.

Alex’s loss is deeply felt by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Please join us in honoring the memory of Alex Hake, a larger-than-life woman whose smile could light up any room, and whose love and spirit will forever shine in our hearts.
