(Southeastern IN) – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Southeastern Indiana until Midnight tonight.
Ozone levels in the area are expected to approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
Warm temperatures, low humidity and light winds will create conditions that are favorable for ozone development that reaches the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range.
IDEM says you can help reduce ozone by taking several actions:
- Carpool – if possible – bike, walk, or take a bus instead of driving alone.
- Refuel your vehicle after 8 p.m.
- Do not idle your vehicle because exhaust contributes to air pollution.
- Mow your lawn in the evening hours and avoid the use of gas-powered lawn equipment.
