Ada L. Meister

Ada L. Meister, 88, of Sunman, died Monday, May 11, 2020 at Margaret Mary Hospital, Batesville. She was born March 10, 1932 in Batesville, the daughter of Adolph and Mabel (Swango) Wirth.

She is survived by two daughters: Joyce (Jim) Westerman of Sunman and Susan Meister of Sunman; three sons: John Meister of Sunman, Tony (Penny) Meister of New Point, and Daniel (Deb) Meister of Batesville; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was married to John Meister who precedes her in death. Others who preceded her in death include two sons: Dennis and Donald Meister; four brothers: Lawrence, Albert, Wallace, and Robert Wirth and three sisters: Bessie Dwenger, Gladys Dwenger, and Edna Sarringhaus.

Mrs. Meister enjoyed doing crafts and participated in many local craft shows. She enjoyed traveling with her family. Some of her favorite destinations included Amish Country in Northeastern Ohio and Dollywood in Pigeon Forge; Gatlinburg Tennessee. When the weather was nice, she enjoyed taking a drive to enjoy the countryside and she loved to sit along the river and watch boats especially the big paddlewheel boats. She also enjoyed playing cards and other games with family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20th, at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris with Rev. Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The current Governor’s mandate allows churches to begin opening again for services that are open to the public to the extent that six feet social distancing is required among all individuals and will reduce the capacity of the church according. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Cemetery Fund.
