SUNMAN, Ind. – With a decline in anticipated enrollment numbers, officials at Sunman-Dearborn Schools are considering closing a school or reconfiguring the corporation.
A recent count of students revealed 3,758 opposed to the anticipated 3,800, according to the Dearborn County Register.
Schools in Indiana receive funding based on the amount of students, so the smaller numbers lead to less funding.
The declining enrollment and reduced state funding is scheduled to be on the agenda at the next school board meeting at East Central High School on October 9.
