NEW ALBANY – The campus of Indiana University Southeast in New Albany was on lockdown Thursday after reports of a gunman. It turned out to be a false alarm.
The lockdown was lifted an hour later after authorities located a suspect, believed to be armed. IU Southeast sent out this tweet to give the all clear to students:
Update: All Clear. The suspect has been located and the reported weapon has been identified as an umbrella. At this time it is safe to leave
According to the twitter page, the campus president was “happy it was a false alarm—but also quite proud of the student who called it in.”
