State legislators are at the Statehouse in Indianapolis Tuesday to make technical corrections to two separate bills passed during the 2014 General Assembly.
Legislation was passed to overhaul the criminal code during the spring and lawmakers will return to make a correction to an error in the bill before it goes into effect July 1. The criminal sentencing bill was co-authored by State Rep. Jud McMillin (R-Brookville).
A fix will also be made to a bill authored by State Rep. Randy Frye (R- Greensburg) that pertains to natural gas with motor vehicles.
“One of the codes was left out inadvertently and we will be putting it in,” Frye said Tuesday morning. “The error in the natural gas bill would not have justified bringing the General Assembly but since we are here making an adjustment to the criminal code we will fix that as well.”
Prior to the end of each General Assembly a day is set aside in the summer to fix any errors in legislation that was passed in the spring.
