DCUF Welcomes New Board Members

(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County United Fund (DCUF) has three new members on its Board of Directors.

They are Chris Bedel, Tony McLaughlin, Laura Walsman.

Bedel is the President, Founder and CEO of Bedel Security and has been with the company for 11 years. He is originally from Millhousen, and has lived in Greensburg a majority of his life. Bedel graduated from South Decatur High School and Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Management with a Management Information Systems minor. He is married to Amanda and they have four children. Bedel enjoys camping, hiking, and other travel.

“I appreciate what the United Fund does for our community and I’m honored to get to share my skills andexperiences to help in its continued success,” Bedel said.

McLaughlin has served as Materials Manager at Delta Faucet Company for the last six years, and previously worked at GECOM Corporation for 29 years. He is a Greensburg native and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1990. McLaughlin is married to Jill and in his spare time enjoys hunting, fishing, Jeeping and basically anything outdoors. He is an usher at St. Mary’s Church, helps with the St. Mary’s Church Festival, and is a member of Knights of Columbus and the Knights of St. John. McLaughlin also serves on the Greensburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

“I am honored to join the United Fund Board and look forward to being more involved in our community. Excited to work with our current and new directors on the board in supporting the essential programs through the United Fund that makes our community stronger,” McLaughlin said.

Walsman is the Director ofPractice Operations and Physician Recruiter at Decatur County Memorial Hospital and has been there for 15 years. She is originally from Greensburg, and she and her husband Ryan have four children. McLaughlin graduated from South Decatur High School and Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She enjoys working out, playing recreational softball and volleyball, reading, watching her children play multiple sports, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is currently a member of Greensburg Chamber of Commerce Board and St. Mary’s Parish.

”I am excited for the opportunity to serve on such an instrumental board for our community. I am ready to dive in and learn more about all the wonderful things the United Fund does for our community. I am committed to contributing to the work that has a real, positive impact on our community. I enjoy giving back to a community that I care deeply about,” Walsman said.

Kristen Fry with Honda will continue and fulfill her second term to the board. She also is serving as the 2026 President of United Fund’s Board of Directors.

Other Board Officers include Stephanie Kress of Rolfes, Garvey, Walker & Robbins -1st Vice President, Bob Johannigman of Johannigman Excavating – 2nd Vice President, and Nick Wallpe of RBSK Partners PC – Secretary/Treasurer.

Other board members include: Sally Cuskaden of Farm Credit Mid-America, Scott Hadler CPA at Raftelis, Angie Reynolds of First Financial Bank, and Matt Slaven with Greensburg Schools.

Student directors include Garrett Schwering from North Decatur High School, Carmin Ripperger from Greensburg High School, and Taylor Somers from South Decatur High School.

“This Board provides the visionary leadership needed to create lasting, and measurable change in our community, and to affect conditions that contribute to our community’s biggest challenges,” said Joane Cunningham, Executive Director. “Together, with our funded nonprofits, business partners, and individual stakeholders, we can and will create a healthier and more prosperous Decatur County for everyone in our community.”

For 69 years, the Decatur County United Fund has helped enrich community life by addressing local priorities and focusing on the building blocks of opportunity: health, education, and financial stability.

DCUF partners as a leader, funder, and collaborator with 15 local nonprofits on programs and initiatives addressing basic needs and services, food, housing, domestic violence, abuse, literacy, mentoring, advocacy, and more. DCUF says creating lasting change requires focusing on these human and social service needs while simultaneously addressing root causes.
