(Statewide) – Many Indiana teachers are doing what they can to help their students be successful in the classroom – even if it means dipping into their own pockets.
A recent national study found that teachers throughout the state spend about $1,200 of their own money for supplies for their classrooms each year.
However, that’s causing them to take on second jobs to help cover what they are doing for their students.
Teachers have indicated they are purchasing items such as decorations, educational tools, as well as snacks for their classrooms.
And while it’s costing them, many teachers feel that without these purchases, the success of their students each school year would be compromised.
