(St. Leon, IN) – East Central High School Family and Consumer Science Teacher and FCCLA Advisor Brenda Osman recently received a grant from the Dearborn County Retired Teachers Foundation.
Funds from the Future Fashionistas! grant provided 1/2 scale dress forms for Advanced Fashion students to practice draping and design skills on a much smaller scale.
Students found the dress forms beneficial for practicing design and using less fabric.
Through this type of project, Osman’s students are able to see how fabric drapes and performs on a dress form.
They also learn how to describe the elements and principles of design that are used while putting their outfit together.
East Central High School offers a Fashion and Textiles Career pathway with relevant courses.
“We would like to thank the Dearborn County Retired Teachers for sponsoring this grant,” Osman said.
