Young Co-Sponsors TORNADO Act

U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-IN).

(Washington, D.C.) – Indiana Senator Todd Young is cosponsoring a bill that could improve how storm warnings are communicated to the public.

“My involvement in this activity goes back to 2012, when the Henryville tornado tore through southern Indiana,” said Young in an interview with WISH-TV.

The TORNADO Act would aim to give people more of a heads up when natural disasters could be headed your way. It could also change how storm warnings are communicated to the public based on behavioral research related to how people typically respond to severe weather.

The bill has not yet received a hearing. Similar legislation in the last Congress did not reach the Senate floor.
