Paul Maurice Wenning born on November 5, 1957 in Durango, Colorado and “Born Again” on January 8, 1980 in his home at Vista Village trailer park in Greensburg, IN.
Paul was the son of Donald H. and Theresa C. Wenning and God the Father through his faith in Christ Jesus. Paul was the fifth child out of thirteen children, seven boys and six girls. He loved his siblings and enjoyed growing up with them. He loved being with his brother Mike on all their adventures when fishing, trapping and coon hunting trips. He loved his two friends Joe and Dave along with many others his met over the years including Mack and Mark.
Paul graduated from Greensburg High School and also through the school that the Holy Spirit teaches, playing a part in making him who he was. Paul accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour on January 8, 1980. He was baptized at Bible Baptist Church on March 15, 1980 with his sisters, Tina Wenning Clary and Nancy Wenning Black.
On May 14, 1988 Paul married his bes
t friend Gwendolyn Sue and they had a wonderful life together. Paul helped raise three beautiful children, Amy, Lorie and Brandon and he was blessed to see all three give their lives and souls to Christ Jesus. He also got to see seven of his grandchildren accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Paul was Ordained into the Gospel Ministry on May 16, 1999 at New Point Baptist Church. Throughout his pastoral career, he was the Pastor of four churches: New Point Baptist Church in New Point, The Country Gospel Music Church in Nashville, Freedom Baptist Church and is the founding Pastor at The Amazing Grace Church at Arbor Grove Village, both in Greensburg. Many Souls were saved and baptized during these ministries.
Paul is survived by his wife Sue, two daughters Amy Schlarb, Lorie (John) Zimmerman and one son Brandon (Kelsey) Schlarb. His eight grandkids and eight great grandkids. His siblings, Sherry (Karl) Stoneking, Mary (Paul) Wilkinson, Dan (Deanna) Wenning, Mike (Sandy) Wenning, Nancy (Larry) Black, John Wenning, Tina (Dave) Clary, Debbie (Larry) Thomas, Anna (Scott) Rayner, Bill (Julie) Wenning, Brian (Patti) Wenning and Jim (Gloria) Wenning. In-Laws Loretta Fay (Ralph) Hollenbeck, Clarence Ronald (Carol) Derflinger, Michael (Carolyn) Derflinger.
Paul’s Mother and Father preceded him in death along with his Mother in-law Nannie Derflinger, nephew Ben Wilkinson, Sister-in-law Patti Hoeing Wenning and Brother-in-law Dave Clary. Oh, but the joy that he will received when he gets to see them again, this time for all eternity.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with funeral service starting at 1:00 pm. Pastor Chuck Gerrian will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to The Gideons International.
