(Batesville, IN) – Batesville City Council approved a Belterra Funds request for $5,728.50 from Park Superintendent Mike Baumer Monday night for the purchase of an RV carport to store the Santa House.
The structure has been a part of the community for many years, and at one time had been revamped by Park Department employees.
But the house had been exposed to the elements for years and fell into disrepair. Last year, Batesville Middle School students came to rescue and refurbished the Santa House as part of the Bulldog Ready initiative.
The Batesville High School welding class built a ramp, and others donated money, time and materials to the project.
The carport will be purchased locally from Batesville Farm and Tractor, and will be stored – under cover – at the Street Department on John Street.
