(Batesville, IN) – John Kuntz has been named Batesville’s new City Engineer.

Kuntz grew up in Batesville and graduated from Oldenburg Academy, where he was on the cross country and track teams.

He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and, for the next 11 years, worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the City of Shelbyville.

While working for the City of Shelbyville, Kuntz successfully participated in the revitalization of the downtown historic district as well as the development of the Knauf Trails.

“These projects demonstrate his ability to implement impactful and community-enhancing projects,” Batesville Mayor John Irrgang said in a statement.

“As City Engineer, John will play a crucial role in advancing Batesville’s priorities, including enhancing public safety, particularly concerning traffic flow and pedestrian safety,” Irrgang added. “We are confident that his expertise and commitment to our community will make him a valuable asset as our city continues to grow and thrive.

“Please join us in welcoming John, his wife, and their two young children back to Batesville,” Irrgang said.
