Arrests Made in Golf Cart Theft Case

(Decatur County/Batesville, IN) – Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies made two arrests last week in a case involving golf carts and a dirt bike stolen from North Branch Golf Course.

The sheriff’s office received a report last Tuesday that a number of golf carts and a dirt bike had been swiped.

Early last Wednesday, Batesville police officers spotted a pickup truck with a golf cart in the bed of the truck.

Officers lost sight of the truck but quickly located it, unoccupied and with the doors open.

The occupants fled the scene on foot, and it was determined the golf cart in the truck bed was stolen from North Branch.

The investigation led to an apartment on Arlington Drive, where the two suspects were located.

Investigators executed a search warrants at the dwelling and a storage locker rented in the apartment complex, which was rented in the name of one of the men in the apartment.

Deputies say the search of the storage locker turned up a golf cart that was confirmed stolen from North Branch.

Both men in the apartment were arrested and charged with Burglary (Level 5 felony) Theft (Level 6 felony).

They were identified as 20-year-old Jayden Allen Nichols-McDonald, 1085 Arlington Dr. in Batesville, and 18-year-old Tyson Boyd Ingle of Indianapolis.

Investigators say they discovered the stolen golf carts were being sold on Facebook Marketplace.
