(Greensburg, IN) – Washington Street in Greensburg between Monfort and Jackson will shut down on October 25 as part of the first phase of the streetscape improvement project.
The work is scheduled to take place late this month through September 2025 in multiple phases. However, the schedule is subject to change.
The City of Greensburg says updates will be communicated to businesses, property owners and residents.
Businesses on the north side of the square will stay open with minimal disruption to daily operations expected.
The City of Greensburg, in partnership with HWC Engineering, has awarded contracts to Schutte Excavating for the reconstruction and enhancement of Washington Street from Franklin to Montfort.
The project is funded by a Community Crossings Matching Grant from INDOT, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the State of Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI), American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and a local match.
In addition, Monfort Street between Main and Washington will close on Monday for private utility replacement.
