Bald Eagle Rescued on July 4 Dies

(Decatur County, IN) – Pete the Bald Eagle has died.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says the four-month-old eagle passed away this week at the Indiana Raptor Center in Nashville.

He was struck by a vehicle on I-74 in Decatur County the afternoon of July 4 and was found by Indiana State Police trooper Jason Hankins.

After Pete was rescued, he was taken by Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies to the raptor center, where he died from his injuries.
