(Westport, IN) – Several agencies responded to a bomb scare at a local school on Wednesday.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) contacted local law enforcement about a bomb threat posted on social media Wednesday morning which was eventually linked to a student at South Decatur High School.
Deputies went to South Decatur Elementary and the high school to ensure the safety of students and staff as well provide support to the School Resource Officer on campus.
Sheriff Bill Meyerrose’s office says it was eventually determined that there was no credible threat to the school or students and staff at any time.
The investigation continues.
Sheriff Meyerrose is thanking the following agencies the Greensburg Police Department, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Columbus Police Department Bomb Squad, the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office and Decatur County Court Services for their assistance.
