Margery J. Bessler, age 84 of Batesville, Indiana, and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Born March 27, 1939, in Cincinnati, she is the daughter of Geraldine (Nee: Ritzi) and Edgar Bessler. She was a member of St. Antoninus Catholic Church in Cincinnati, where she volunteered as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
Margery held a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and a Master’s degree in education. She taught elementary education to students at Whittier Elementary School in Cincinnati from 1965 to 1993.
Margery was the organist and choir director at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Cincinnati for 12 years and taught religious education classes and vacation bible school.
Margery was a volunteer at the Mercy Franciscan Hospital in Cincinnati before her retirement in 1990.
Margery loved to play cards, especially Canasta with family and friends and enjoyed traveling, both here in the United States and abroad.
She is survived by her aunt Dottie Bessler of Indianapolis, Indiana, and numerous cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles William and Ruth Bretnitz, Don and Leona Kellerman, Clem and Alvina Bessler, Catherine Bessler, Clarence Bessler, Norm and Alfreda Spiegel and Sr. Agnes (Marcella) Bessler.
Visitation is Wednesday, October 4th, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Indiana. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church, with Fr. Carl Langenderfer OFM officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
