MMH Foundation celebrates Day of Giving

(Batesville, IN) – The Margaret Mary Health Foundation (MMHF) is kicking off its annual Day of Giving today (May 12) as part of National Hospital Day.

National Hospital Day was officially declared by former President Warren G. Harding and was first observed on May 12, 1921, as a way to reinvigorate public trust and confidence in the medical sector in the aftermath of the Spanish Flu.

May 12 was chosen as the date to commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale.

Margaret Mary Health has celebrated their team members all week by hosting a cookout and giving t-shirts, ice cream, and gift cards to team members.

Today caps off the week with the Day of Giving where community members are invited to give to any fund of their choosing and support the local hospital.

“We are so fortunate and blessed to have a hospital in our local community – today is a day that we invite the entire community to go online and donate to their favorite fund and support Margaret Mary Health Foundation, essentially supporting the health and wellness of our community,” MMHF Executive Director Jonathon Maple said. “It isn’t about the amount raised – it is strictly about participation, no gift is too small.”

Community members are encouraged to go online at http://www.mmhealthfoundation.org or visit the Health Foundation’s Facebook or Instagram pages.
