Melanie Ann McCorkle, 60, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
She was born March 23, 1962, in Tripoli, Libya, daughter of the late Harold Jones Jr.and Zula (Smith) Jones.
As a child Mel was kind, helpful, and loyal to her large family. She wasn’t afraid to show her emotions and was a very caring and loving sibling. Mel was a 1980 graduate of Pemberton Township High School, Pemberton, NJ. In 1985 Melanie married Robert McCorkle and the two were a unique pair who brought out the best side of each other. They were blessed with two children, Kyle and Keith. Melanie was a hard working woman who did her best to support her family. Although she never found a true career she always did what she could to make ends meet. Throughout the jobs she worked she was always regarded as highly social and caring and excelled at providing customer service. In her younger days Mel enjoyed hobbies like playing pool and bowling. In later years she was an avid puzzle solver and recreational knitter. She loved her dog Bella. Melanie will be remembered for her sense of humor and her optimistic attitude. She always believed in the potential of those around her and wished the best for everyone she knew. She had a strong desire to help in any way she was capable and then always wished she could do more.
Melanie is survived by her loving spouse Robert McCorkle, sons, Kyle and Keith McCorkle; siblings, Susan Heidli, Jess Jones, Candy Dean, Jack Jones, Mary Smith, Harold W. Jones, III, John Jones, and Terry Jones; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Zula; sister, Marilyn Jones.
Friends will be received Thursday, September 8, 2022, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home, at 6:00 pm with Pastor LaJo Dunbar.
