LAWRENCEBURG, IN — A man was sentenced Wednesday in Dearborn Superior Court I to 32 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of Child Molesting, with two years suspended.
Thirty-seven-year-old Corey D. Frank of Fishers pleaded guilty to the Child Molesting counts as Level 3 felonies on July 13, 2021.
Frank’s plea agreement left a sentencing range between three and 32 years in the Department of Corrections to be determined by Judge Jonathan N. Cleary of Dearborn Superior Court I.
In sentencing Frank, Judge Cleary noted that the conduct of the Defendant, in this case, was egregious.
Frank met the victim on Snapchat, and within a day was driving down to meet this victim in Harrison, Ohio, and traveling with her to a hotel in Greendale for the purposes of having sexual intercourse with her.
Though the victim initially stated her age was greater than her actual age, she told him she was 13 prior to any sex act occurring, and Frank continued with his plans regardless of this information.
Frank stayed with the victim in a rented hotel room for two days prior to returning her to the Harrison location where he originally met her.
Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens stated that this case should remind the public just how dangerous social media can be for impressionable children.
“This case should be terrifying for any parent or member of the public. In the span of 24 hours this victim met her abuser and was in a hotel room with a 36-year-old man who had also lied to her about his age, being subjected to a terrible life-changing situation that had spun massively out of control.” Deddens said.
Deddens commended Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Krumwied for his work in prosecuting this case; Dearborn County Sheriff’s Detective Gena Allen for her hours in sifting through voluminous records from Snapchat and other social media companies along with Frank’s cell phone for evidence; and the victim for her bravery in discussing what happened to her with the authorities and testifying before the Court at the sentencing hearing.
Under Indiana Law and the terms of his sentence, Frank will be required to serve two years on probation upon his release from the Indiana Department of Corrections and will be required to register as a sex offender for life with other accompanying restrictions.
