South Dearborn played Franklin County at home on Backman Field Tuesday. The Knights were in the mood to score and shared the honor among seven teammates as SD won 10-4.
In a Knights scoring recap provided by South Dearborn’s Jonathan Wismann, the first to score was Dana Lewis with a drive down the right side to the box. The second goal was a drive made by Johan Ludvigsen to goal from midfield. The third was a corner kick by Ashton Cotton to Austyn Tibbs finishing it with ease. The fourth was another assist by Cotton to Logan Heeke for the shot. The fifth goal hit the net off Cotton’s foot. The sixth and final goal of the half was a cross picked up by Peyton Hill who played it across the goal to Heeke for the finish.
In the second half, the first goal was a drive by Nakia Scruggs within the first 30 seconds. The second was off a cross by Ludvigsen to Heeke who tapped it in the far right corner. The last two goals came from freshman and rookie player Camdyn Dausch playing at the striker position with both goals sent in after following shots off the keeper.
Wismann noted the Knights defense struggled in the first half as Logan Ross was back after missing a couple games due to injury. However, he led his back line valiantly in the second half, holding the Wildcats on their half of the field for a majority of the remaining 40 minutes. Gage Fenton, Tibbs and Easton Schumann assisted by midfielders Jason Hail, Hill and Hunter Gates did a great job containing the ball high for the Knights once the rust wore off in the first half.
Also assisting the Knights in their win, according to Wismann, was Will Secrest playing striker, Ben Cassini at left wing, Zeke Brooks and Easton Heuer taking right wing and midfield positions, Riley Charvat at left wing, and Keith and Kooper Witte taking wing positions. Keeper Brodie Teke racked up eight saves and Cotton picked up a couple as well.
We thank coach Wisamann for the information.
