Batesville City Council approves Belterra Funds for Applefest

Batesville Kiwanis AppleFest chairman Jay Reichmuth addresses City Council Monday, July 12.

Batesville, IN —Batesville City Council last night approved a request from the Batesville Kiwanis for $2,500 in Belterra Funds for this year’s AppleFest advertising and promotional efforts.

The request was made by AppleFest chairman Jay Reichmuth, who wrote in his pre-meeting proposal to council, “AppleFest is the Batesville Kiwanis’ largest annual fundraising activity. The money generated by Kiwanis goes back into the community through scholarships, student leadership training, Boy Scouts, children’s health care, student tutoring, youth soccer, and senior services to name a few.

“There is no money tree growing in front of city hall,” he continued.”We know you are faced with a large number of requests and can’t always say ‘yes,’ but with the city’s help, we can maintain our presence in the Tri-State to promote AppleFest and help bring out-of-town revenue into Batesville.”

AppleFest, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic, is scheduled for September 25 and 26 at Liberty Park.
