Lady Wildcats Get Wins Over Lady Tigers

The Franklin County Varsity softball team played a very complete game on Monday night defeating the Lawrenceburg Tigers by a final score of 10 – 0.

Franklin County kept a steady offense all night against the Tigers, scoring in five of the six innings. The Wildcats capitalized on two early home runs in the game to take a 5 – 0 lead after two innings. Bree Bischoff got the scoring started for the Wildcats blasting a three-run home run in the top of the first inning. Then in the top of the second, Kloe Bolos followed that up with a two-run shot of her own to give the Wildcats a five-run lead.

That proved to be more than enough offense for the Wildcats as Bree Bischoff pitched a great game for the Wildcats in the circle. Bischoff pitched all six innings for the Wildcats and kept the Tigers off-balance all night as they couldn’t hit anything solid off the bat.

When they did put the ball in play, the Wildcat defense also stepped up and made much key defensive play throughout the game. One of these was made by Anne Becker throwing out a Tiger runner in a key situation with runners on first and third. Anne had a great throw followed by a great swipe tag by Maci Lake to get the speedy base runner.

Then later on in the game, the infield turned a great 6-4-3 double play to get out of a jam in the bottom of the sixth. After the Tigers lead off the inning with a single, Bischoff induced a hard ground ball to shortstop. Then Maci Lake flipped into Kassidy Schell who then fired it to Josie Rolfes at first to complete the double play.

The Franklin County JV Softball team defeated the Lawrenceburg Tigers on Monday evening by a final score of 5 – 4.

The Wildcats were out-hit in the contest two to four, but the team was able to manufacture runs throughout the game to get the victory. They drew three walks and were able to take advantage of five Tiger errors in the game.

The Wildcats had a 4 – 0 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning when Lawrenceburg was able to tie it with a four-run inning. They drew two walks and had three hits which allowed them to tie the game at four.

Franklin County would then score the go-ahead run in the top of the fourth inning. Emma Stadtmiller led off the inning with a hit by pitch and then advanced to third the next at-bat when Olivia Bennett grounded to third and the ball was thrown away. The next two Wildcats were struck out, and it looked like the Wildcats would waste the two base runners. Then in the next at-bat, Stadtmiller scored on a wild pitch, giving the Wildcats the lead.

Bella Lee and the Franklin County defense would shut down the Tigers in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 5 – 4 victory!
