The Oldenburg Academy Twisters had some changes to their weekend plans, thanks to Mother Nature. The Twisters and Patriots got together for some Friday night action, instead of their usual Saturday doubleheader due to impending weather. The Twisters got a rare win against the Patriots, beating them 10-2.
Both teams were deadlocked at zeros until the 3rd inning. The Patriots got on the board with a run, but the Twisters stormed back with 5 in the bottom of the frame. From then on, it was all OA – scoring 2 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th. Union County would add one more in the 7th.
The Twisters were led at the plate by Soph. Trevor Moizuk was 2-3 with an RBI and a walk. Sr Chris Hautman contributed both at the plate (1-3 double, 2 RBIs) and on the mound (5 1/3, 1 run (unearned), 3 BBs, and 8 strikeouts) as the winning pitcher. Sr. Andrew Oesterling came in and pitched the last 1 2/3, 1 run (earned), 1 walk, and 1 hit.
“It feels good to get a win against a team that historically has always beat us. Union County is a very solid team. We just have to keep taking it game-by-game and not look too far ahead.” Coach Behlmer said after the game.
The Twisters will welcome Northeastern High School to Liberty Park on Monday, April 26th for a 5:30 PM start time.
