The Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a man in connection with two separate residential burglaries that occurred a year ago, and pending evidence could lead to more charges.
Two burglaries occurred in the Friendship area, and the Versailles area, within a short time of each other on the same day in October 2012.
The Sheriff’s Office collected evidence from both crime scenes, and submitted it to the Indiana State Police Forensic Laboratory.
A suspect was charged by the prosecutor’s office on Thursday afternoon.
Dakota Fraley, 19, is facing formal charges of two counts of Residential Burglary, both class B felonies. Fraley is currently incarcerated in the Indiana Department of Corrections for a drug related conviction.
According to Ripley County Sheriff Tom Grills, “The evidence links Fraley to these incidents.”
Police say several robberies occurred within the same time frame which Fraley is still a suspect in, however, has not been charged.
The Sheriff’s Office is waiting for forensic analysis to be completed on items of evidence that were collected from the crime scenes before moving forward with potential charging.
Anyone with information that could assist the case is urged to contact a local law enforcement agency.
“When I assumed office in 2007, my administration worked hard to bring technology to the forefront, have a deputy trained in forensic evidence collection, establish a full time detective, and educate and equip all deputies with the latest evidence collection technology,” said Sheriff Grills.
He added, “This is proof. My office will remain steadfast in working to protect the public, in light of all the political misfortune that has occurred in recent months.”
