Sunman, IN — Last Thursday the Sunman Dearborn Community School Board unanimously approved a Resolution Opposing Education Savings Accounts and Voucher Expansion. This is due to the consideration of House Bill 1005, and Senate Bills 412 and 413, though SB 412 is no longer being considered. Education Savings Accounts and Voucher Expansion would provide funds to be distributed to attend the school of a student’s choice whether that be private, public, or other options.
The resolution urges the legislators of the downfall of the Education Savings Accounts that would “risk directing resources away from public schools to nonpublic schools and/or home schools that are not subject to the same rigorous scrutiny for their use of taxpayer dollars.”
