Ms. Karen Sue (Bovard) Brittain, age 69, of Greendale, Indiana, formerly of East Enterprise, Indiana, entered this life on July 17, 1951 in Milan, Indiana. She was a daughter of the late Verle Emmitt and Hildred Ernestine (Slack) Bovard. She was raised in East Enterprise, Indiana on Lover’s Lane and attended Switzerland County High School. In her younger years, Karen was a waitress for Swiss Inn in Vevay, Indiana. She was later employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana and Thatcher’s Glass in Greendale, Indiana. She was also employed for Levi’s in Hebron, Kentucky and the US Shoe Factory in Harrison, Ohio. Karen was later employed as a custodial for Mt. St. Joseph College in Delphi, Ohio for six years, retiring in 2007. She was also employed as a bartender for the American Legion Post #239 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1464 in Aurora, Indiana for a few years. Karen enjoyed playing in the women’s league softball from age 13-42. Karen loved her family and enjoyed spending quality time together and spoiling the children. She also enjoyed owning sports cars, gardening, and flowers, especially yellow roses. Karen passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, at her residence.
Karen will be missed by her sisters, Phyllis Barrows of Sunman, Indiana, Sandy Huddleston and her husband, Roy of Aurora, Indiana and Debbie Jones of Greendale, Indiana; her brother, Dave Bovard and his wife, Sandra of West Harrison, Indiana and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verle Emmitt Bovard, died March 14, 1970 and Hildred Ernestine (Slack) Bovard, died July 27, 2011 and her brother, Quentin E. Bovard, died June 26, 1963.
Interment will be held in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana.
