A theft allegedly occurred following a benefit at the Milan Community Park .
A benefit was held Saturday for 12-year-old Johnathon Baas, who nearly had his foot amputated from a lawnmower accident in May. The proceeds of the event went toward the family’s medical bills at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
According to Johnathon’s father, Danny Baas, hundreds of dollars gained at the benefit had to pay for stolen beer.
Baas says someone apparently cut the lock off of the beer trailer and stole thirty-five cases of beer between Sunday night and Monday morning.
He was notified after the trailer was picked up by the beer distributor on Monday. The distributor indicated that the thieves got away with thirty-two cases of Bud Light and three cases of Budweiser.
“[The beer distributor] said there were eighteen cases on the trailer, and I knew something was wrong,” Danny Baas said.
The family was forced to pay for the stolen beer.
The Milan Police Department is investigating the thefts. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department at (812) 654-2211.
