Batesville, IN —The first week of school this year will look a little different for Batesville Community School Corporation students. As students, teachers, and staff prepare to return to school, BCSC wants to do their best to ensure an environment for students and staff to return to our buildings safely. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, BSCS will not be able to observe our traditional open house, locker night, or freshman orientation.
In place of this, BCSC is implementing an innovative approach to help staff and students transition back to school, with a rolling start to the school year. On Wednesday, August 5, students in pre-K, kindergarten, third grade, sixth grade, ninth grade, and twelfth grade will report to school. They will not report to school on Thursday, August 6. All other grade level students will report to school on Thursday, August 6, for their first day. On Friday, August 7, all PK-12 students will attend school.
The rolling start is expected to create a smoother transition between school levels for students and to ensure a successful launch to an already challenging school year. The school day will occur as a typical day with transportation, lunch, and regular arrival and dismissal times. The first day would be an orientation day. Students would learn schedules and map out their routes, meet teachers, and begin to develop relationships, learn locker locations and practice codes, and participate in other activities that will help create a smoother transition.

August 6- Grades 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11
