International Violin Competition winner to play at OA

Oldenburg, IN—Oldenburg Academy is pleased to present a free concert by 2018 Indianapolis International Violin Competition winner, Richard Lin, to be held at the Oldenburg Academy Auditorium at 7 pm, Monday, October 21st. The event, part of the Batesville Area Arts Council Arts-in-Education Evening Series, is free to the public.

Oldenburg Academy teacher Mary Gehring is thrilled that OA is able to host Mr. Lin, both to engage with students and to perform for the community. “Winning the international violin contest is a huge deal, and we are excited to welcome his talent to campus!” BAAC Executive Director Sarah Heppner adds, “The AIE Evening Series sessions are designed so the entire community can get a glimpse of the talented artists our students have the privilege of working with during the school day thanks to BAAC’s Arts in Education programming.”

Highlights of Mr. Lin’s 2019-2020 season include concerto engagements with the Indianapolis, Montclair and Chippewa Valley symphonies as well as the New Mexico, Evansville and Marion philharmonics in the United States. Multiple recitals in Dallas, New York, Washington, D.C., and Poland will culminate in a Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium recital debut in June 2020. In Asia, Richard will tour Vietnam with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra. He will also perform Beethoven Triple Concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra in Taipei and Tchaikovsky Concerto with the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan.
