Harrison, OH—According to a letter from the Law Director of the City of Harrison, the vacancy left from City Councilman Urbano Galindo which will be effective on September 30 will not be filled by Jean Wilson. The letter explains that Galindo was not backed by the Republican Central Party and therefore, the party does not have the legal authority to appoint anyone to this position.
According to the City of Harrison Charter, if a council vacancy is not endorsed by any political party, the vacancy is to be filled by a majority vote of the council. Should the Council not fill the seat within 30 days of the vacancy, the Mayor has the power to appoint a person to the seat.
Though he ran as a republican, Galindo was not backed by the party.
