Greensburg, IN—At last evening’s Greensburg city council meeting, Councilman Kevin Fleetwood discussed the topic of the landfill expansion. Fleetwood sits as an ex officio member of the Area Plan Commission. He stated that though this has been spoken about for several years, last month was the first time Bestway actually brought the discussion to the Decatur County Area Plan Commission for discussion.
Fleetwood said it was anticipated to be up for discussion at tonight’s meetings, but it has been held back on the agenda for a future date. Fleetwood said they are looking to expand 150 acres but the expansion would land across the street. The land they are looking to rezone is the property they already own across from the landfill — on South County Road 280 East.
