Chandra “Chan” L. Mattingly

Chandra “Chan” Leigh Mattingly, 65, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away Sunday August 18, 2019 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

She was born February 2, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Kenneth Mollman and Viola (Probst) Mollman.

Chan worked as a journalist for Register Publications for over 30 years.

Chandra touched the lives of hundreds of people. In addition to her long years as a journalist covering Southeastern Indiana, she was a member of various organizations including the Oak Heritage Conservancy and the Southeastern Indiana Beekeeping Association. She loved nature and spent much of her life outdoors, riding her horses, hiking the trails at Versailles State Park, gardening, and beekeeping. Her yearly plant sale was a local fixture, providing not just plants, honey, and eggs but also advice and wisdom. A deeply spiritual person, Chan saw the good in everyone and advocated for a kinder world. She fought cancer for twelve years with a strength and sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone she met along the way.

Chandra is survived by her loving spouse Robert Mattingly; children, Cynthia Mattingly (Andrea Stadtfeld) of Germany and Nathan Mattingly of Rising Sun, IN; sisters, Karen Wind, and Terri “Lea” Mollman (Connie Livingston) of Youngstown, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jeanna Norton and brothers, Lee, Don, Tony and Jerry Mollman.
