Public Safety Income Tax allocation under debate, input sought

Brookville, IN—A public hearing on the Public Safety Income Tax rate will be held on June 25 during the next council meeting.  While approximately $1 million is collected each year, only $300, 000 from this tax are used to fund Franklin County EMS and for countywide dispatch referred to as “Public Safety Access Point.”  This year, so far, $30,000 was split between the six volunteer fire departments.  Any remaining monies are divided between the county and the towns.
